Obituaries

     

Justice “Jud” B. Yax,
82 of Algonac, MI. quietly passed December 11, 2009 at the St. John’s River District Hospital.  He was born April 8, 1927 on Harsens Island, MI. to the late Julius & Laura Yax.  

Jud proudly served his country overseas with the U.S. Army during WW II, and was a life member of the Algonac V.F.W. Post #3901.

He married Helen Kwiatkowski of Wyandotte, MI. on November 18, 1950 and they were married 44 years and had three children.  They loved fishing, gardening, and hunting and were very active in the V.F.W.  Helen passed away on October 9, 1995.  He married Nora on December 31, 2003.

Mr. Yax is survived by his children Debra (Donald) Turke, Donna (Edward) Pietrykowski, and Linda Yax,  his grandchildren Cassandra and Tiffany Turke and Travis, Andrew and Allison Pietrykowski and his wife Nora, brothers; Owen Yax, Mitch (Rosella) Yax , and Hugh (Evelyn ) Yax.  Many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his first wife Helen and siblings Mary Smith, Gilbert Yax, Chuck Yax, and Shirley Bowers, and a graddaughter Diana Turke.

Mr. Yax will be instate at 10:30 AM Monday December 14, 2009 with Mass at 11:00 AM in the St. Catherines Catholic Church, Algonac.  Visitation Sunday 1-4 & 6-9 PM in the Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac.  Burial will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Algonac.  Memorial donations may be made to the Algonac V.F.W. Post #3901.
